Nimes ville Romane












Nîmes is a historic town with a rich Roman heritage dating back over 2,000 years. The town was built by Roman legionnaires who had conquered Egypt. Some notable landmarks in Nîmes include:
  1. Esplanade Statue: This statue features a character with a small cube hat, where each face of the cube represents a different monument or building in the city, such as the Palais de Justice.
  2. Arènes de Nîmes: A Roman amphitheatre built in the 1st century AD, which is still used for events today.
  3. Tour Magne: Originally built by the Gauls, the Romans used its foundation to construct a taller tower. On clear days, you can see the sea from the top, approximately 40-50 km away.
  4. Jardin de la Fontaine: A garden where Romans used to bathe.
